"half the distance"

i'm tired of "half the distance to the goal line."

a penalty is a penalty. does it put you into your own endzone? too bad. more safeties!

I concur. Take it to the goal line, and then rack up subsequent penalties on the next kick off. "1/2 the distance" for some flagrant things, is BS. US Football would benefit from more safeties.

I've been thinking about this one, and what I would like to see is that yes, the full penalty is assessed but that you wouldn't automatically get a safety. You get to run one play from the new spot. E.g. if you incurred a 10-yd penalty from your own 5, the ball is spotted 5 yards inside your own endzone, and you get to run a single play from scrimmage. If you don't make it out of your endzone on that play, safety.

but what if you get a 15-yarder from your own 3?

You play from the second row of the stands.

maybe make the goal line a limit? holding from the 8 puts you on the goal line.

i'm pretty much for anything that results in more safeties.
